PBI

PBI is probably the most high-performing plastic currently available.

As a non-reinforced material, PBI is very “pure” in terms of ionic impurities and does not emit any gas (only water). Based on these properties, the material is especially attractive for semiconductor manufacturers, particularly for vacuum chamber applications, and for the aerospace industry. PBI has excellent ultrasonic transparency, making this material excellent for probe tip lenses in ultrasonic measuring tools, for example. The material demonstrates best retention of its mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures. It is used for selected components to reduce maintenance costs. PBI should be stored in a dry place in air-tight bags sealed with a drying agent.
