This is the best-known member of the polyaryletherketone group and demonstrates outstanding anti-friction properties even under thermal pressure as well as very good mechanical properties. Its excellent chemical resistance and high continuous service temperature make this material very useful and mean that PEEK can be used almost universally for components under high stress.
This 30% glass-fibre-reinforced type has better dimensional stability and rigidity than unfilled PEEK and a much higher dimensional stability. PEEK GF30 is well-suited for parts with high continuous static loads at higher temperatures. Because the glass fibres tend to lead to abrasion of the mating surface, PEEK GF30’s suitability for use as a plain bearing material for specific applications should be carefully checked in advance.
The addition of carbon fibres, PTFE and graphite results in a “plain bearing type” of PEEK. Its excellent tribological properties (low friction coefficient, high wear resistance, and high PV limit value) make this type the ideal material for parts subject to high wear and friction.
PEEK base polymer with 10% of PTFE, graphite and carbon fibres. TECAPEEK PVX is an extremely high-performing bearing material as it combines the properties of a premium polymetric matrix material with an optimum amount of special, wear-improving additive. It is ideal for technical bearing and wear applications. This modified form of PEEK raises the continuous service temperature by approx. 4°C and dramatically reduces the limiting PV loads. It also maintains an outstanding chemical resistance.
This type is reinforced with 30% carbon fibres and combines even higher rigidity, mechanical strength, and creep strength than PEEK GF30 with optimum wear resistance. Additionally, the carbon fibres provide 3.5 times higher thermal conductivity then unfilled PEEK, meaning that frictional heat dissipates faster from the friction surface of sliding elements.
PEEK TX was specially developed for the food production industry. Like PEEK, this new self-lubricating material features a composition suited to contact with food, but offers far better wear and sliding properties. PEEK TX is therefore especially suitable for sliding wear elements in temperatures from 100 to 200°C.

PEEK ID is particularly suitable for applications whose machine speeds require a high wear resistance or where the operation temperature is higher than 130 degrees. Additionally, this material is suitable for CIP (cleaning in place) products and SIP (sterilisation in place) systems. It can be used in prefabricated parts with a high stiffness or reinforcement and those that need to be approved for contact with food. Moreover, it is recommended to applications with balanced notch impact strength/rigidity ratio and/or precision components with high dimension stability.
