Its properties make PEI very similar to polyphenylensulfone. This material demonstrates a wide range of temperatures and an impressively high creep strength. PEI also has a high continuous service temperature (170°C). Additionally, both its hydrolysis resistance and dimensional stability are very good, rounding off its properties profile. PEI’s amorphous molecule structure makes it transparent and it has a goldish-yellow colour. It is a good electrical insulator. Important: Oil-soluble coolants should not be used when machining PEI, as this can lead to cracks forming.
This is a type reinforced with 30% glass fibres. Its properties make PEI well-suited for parts with high continuous static loads at higher temperatures. In comparison to PEI, PEI GF30 has:
PEI ESd410C (Semitron® ESd 410C) is excellently suited to handling and manipulation of integrated circuits in test environments. It provides reliable dissipation of static charges and good dimensional stability.
