PPE

PolyPhenylene Ether

SCROLL

PPE is a thermoplastic, amorphous, standard plastic and is mostly only used when modified and mixed with PA or PS.

PPE is used most in the electronics, household, and vehicle sectors where its high heat deflection temperature, dimensional stability, and dimensional accuracy come in. PPE is also used in medical engineering, however, for items such as plastic instruments requiring frequent sterilisation.

PPE Properties
  • High impact strength
  • Heat deflection temperature up to +130°C
  • Good hydrolysis resistance
  • Low water absorption
  • Good electrical and dialectical properties
  • Physiologically safe (BGA and FDA approved)
  • Sterilisable
  • Low density
  • Good dimensional stability
  • High chemical resistance
  • Lacking oxidative resistance above 100°C
  • Lacking resistance to UV radiation
